Writing this a week and a half after the game so quick player synopsis for everyone below as i cant remember the game!
Whilst we were not at our most fluid, there was a distinct increase in workrate especially off the ball. Cliche it maybe, but we need to press high and as a team and win the ball high. Thats what we're about and that's what will get us back to form.
On Sunday i want to see the following to build on the Hearts game:
* High pressing as a team,
* Defensive line high
* With the ball i want to see short quick passes, backwards and sideways is fine. if someone misplaces a pass when trying to do the right thing, i would rather see that than someone booting it.
* When we have the ball, but you don't, get open and ask for it. Wingers and full backs add the width and play through midfield. Have confidence in yourself to receive the ball and then use it effectively - even under pressure.
* Work as a team. I only ever want people having a go at another player if they are not working hard enough. Anything else - everyone makes mistakes.
Rating completed by an identifiable Ginger man
Bull: Solid as ever. Could do nowt about either goal. Goalkicks woeful! :-)
Tom A: Solid as ever - keep in line with centre half's when you dont have the ball!
Scott: Nice on the ball as always, looking fitter with more games
Ross: Invaluable center half or midfield - keep talking players through it
Jay: Nice and solid, mint on the ball - fitness getting back to norm
Appaz: Class on the ball and mint workrate.
Woody: Steady as always, ability to get about the pitch is class!
Elliott: Class in a glass as always. Want to see on the ball in final third more.
Murta: Had full back rinsed on more than one occassion. MOM by a mile
Walker: One goal two asissts. Work well in the channels and didnt just stand defenders up. Good chasing off the ball.
Frank: Best crosser on the team with time, wicked lefty. Should have scored but legs gave way.
Roy: Solid debut - good things to come hopefully.
Sladey: Late and came without boots or socks. Duly fined! Spot on on the pitch as always, want to see more marauding runs with the ball - causes chaos.
Richie: Got the pace and ability to destroy teams and showed it in flashes. Needs self confidence but that'll come, will play a big role in final games of the season.
Cieran: His 0 rating was not a mistake given by Greeny. .
