Leggy Harecastle Lose

<p>Harecastle were beaten by AFC Smallthirne in the Bill Slater League Cup first round 3-1. Manager Dave Taylor tried a 4-2-3-1 formation to try and get the team to pass the ball better and after 10 minutes it seemed to be a good move. Harecastles other manager Mark Harry who had to start the game struck from outside the area giving them a deserved lead. Harecastle dominated the next 10 minutes but as the first half wore on they sat back and paid the price on 25 minutes when Smallthorne equalised with a stunning 25 yard shot from an indirect freekick. Harecastle never recovered and went 2-1 down before half time conceding a soft goal. In the second half Harecastle looked very leggy and never looked like getting back into the game even though Smallthorne went down to 10 men after an hour. Adam Wilkes came closet to equalising with a pile driver free kick that hit the inside of the post. Smallthorne put the game to bed in the dying moments from a corner. Harecastle need to get their game going soon with the next 2 games being against table topping Dunkirk Tavern and promotion chasing AFC Jester.
