Away cup match
In a match where there were concerns over defensive organisation due to injuries and unavailability. Starting without a recognised keeper Snuggs deputised showing his continued commitment to the cause.
An early injury to a devastated East saw Coulman pitch in at right back, although this was an unfamiliar position for him, he excelled and produced a man of the match performance along with the devastating Wheeldon with four goals.
The goal of the match though has to be the 20th minute effort from Macklin with a delightful volley from 16 yards.
The scoring was started by Beeston slotting home after Chadwick had hit the post.
Eastwood slammed in the third after good work by Goodban, a slick strike from 25 yards.
Wheeldon dinked in a fourth early in the second half followed by a second not long after putting the Dragons into a commanding 5-0 lead. As tactics go, the focus on the strength up front have extra meaning to the phrase that attack is the best form of defence.
Being such a distance in front cause some slack at the back with two quick fire goals making it 5-2. There may have been some concern had the hosts found a third, however Wheeldon extended the lead back to four goals with a screamer from distance. However Morley did get a third to make it 6-3 woth fifteen minutes remaining.
The Dragons returned to attacking dominance and after some magnificent hard work and play from Chadwick Wheeldon was as found in space slotting a seventh goal of the afternoon.
Chadwick himself added the eighth and the Dragons had booked their slot in the Quarter finals to be played in February/March 2020 where another away day awaits.
