Never Say Die Dragons Snatch Late Late Equaliser

First games of the season are never easy. The change of pace, the intensity and stake becomes so different when something is at stake.

The start was good, the first goal was of utter class and everything desired for the season. But it was followed by a failure to capitalise on domination, to finish off a team that we’re there for the taking. The inevitable happened and by the hour the Dragons were 2-1 down in a game that should have been 3-0 at half time.

Further stress was to follow with Cranswick making it 3-1 after further sloppiness gifted further opportunities.

However the last fifteen minutes where better, better than it had been and numerous chances were created that could and probably should have earned three points rather than the grateful draw that was earned by the slick run and classy finish from Wheeldon with virtually the last kick of the game. To get a point from adversity is something to be proud of as it shows spirit and determination to never say die. The squad are capable for much better, but this is game one. Players need to be honest about their own performance and to never be satisfied, always want more. Onto next week.
