Away league match
Today was the first of the big games against the teams fancied at the top end of the league. Hessle played the first half in a confident and controlled manner with some excellent football, however the goals conceded were not created from nice play, they were gifted through poor decision making. The first goal for Hessle came following many players stopping having considered the ball had gone out of play, something which was proven to be not the case later through VAR. Hessle took the opportunity of a stationary Dragons team with a snap shot which flew into the top corner.
The theme continued, Hessle’s okay was good, but it didn’t really open up the Dragons too often. As the game settled Harchester created their own chances one such chance was converted by Coulman following a decent cross from the left wing.
Another gift was a result of being caught in possession when playing from the back following a goal kick, the decision should have been to clear and reorganise, instead Hessle regained the ball and took their opportunity to lead at half time.
Hessle were unable to maintain the level of football demonstrated in the first half and Harchester will look back and believe they should have won the game. However there was only one goal in the second half which came from Wheeldon and will be considered amongst the best finishes of the season and a contender for goal of the season.
Harchester continued to press but couldn’t find the winner as the home keeper pulled of a range of saves to keep Hessle in the game.
Honours even, the season remains in the hands of Harchester United to step up and ensure Harrod has a challenge to pick a side from the best of the squad and not from just who is available.
