Further progress made during the busy preseason. Again a varied selection saw the game played in phases competition will be tough for starting places so notable contributions will plays a significant part in the selection process. These can be both positive and negative so the incident in the 30th minute which saw two players sin binned for dissent needs to be a lesson in how we prevent playing short handed and costing points and progression. Such liability will cost players their places.

The game had started slowly as the Dragons settled down and found a rhythm on a tricky surface. Once the movement reciprocated that of the previous game the game became more even. Unfortunately it was an unforced error which lead to Easingtons first goal. But that is what preseason is all about, learning from such lapses.

After the backpass in the 30th minute which was incorrectly called as handball, Harchester found themselves down to 9 men for ten minutes. Credit where credit is due the 9 battled and we’re unfortunate to concede a second goal.

The second half saw six changes, including the returning Wheeldon who took the game by storm. The fresh legs also helped refresh the energy levels and Harchester dominated the majority of the second half.

Easington were reduced to limited opportunity with a decent save from Evans to keep the score line targetable. A number of corners and first class build up play including great full back support from Sharp and Foster plus the advancements of East, enable a good number of players in the opposition area. This dominance lead to repeated corners and the Dragons peppered the Easington goal. Eventually Harchester broke through with just four minutes remaining with a near turn from Wheeldon enabling him to pick out Beeston who turned the ball past the despairing home keeper. The onslaught continued and from a cross from East being finished neatly by Wheeldon for a well deserved equaliser with only seconds to spare.

Another good performance from the Dragons. The performance bar has been raised a notch, but there are a few more notches yet before being ready. ??????
