A real battle today against a very good Rubery side whose striker is approaching 30 goals for this season so obviously a real danger in front of goal.
Thankfully though we pose our own threat and with a great kick, Harrison notched his first assist of the season when Zak Rush got on the end of it and slotted home to put us 1-0 up.
Further chances in the first half were scuppered by the efforts of the Rubery keeper who pulled off a string of strong saves.
Rubery got themselves back into the game when we switched off on a throw in and a mix-up allowed the Rubery striker to score his easiest goal of the season. 1-1.
Hampton though had all the threat in the first half and could consider themselves unlucky when another throw caught us cold, but with plenty to do the Rubery striker turned inside and slotted past Harrison right on the stroke of half time. 2 chances 2 goals for them.
Hampton came out fighting in the second half and it wasn’t long until we were level again, great work from Zak D in the box causing havoc, managed to force the Rubery keeper to spill the ball and Zak Rush was on hand to calmly slot home.
From this point it was end to end, Rubery had a few chances but solid defensive work and keeping kept them on level terms, where several 1v1 opportunities for Rushy & Fin didn’t quite run our way, so it ended, probably fairly, 2-2.
Hard graft all over the pitch today under a heavy foot, but today’s MOTM goes to Zack D, who worked hard and scrapped to create the opportunity for us to level the score, well done Zack!
Well done yet again to Rushy, moving to 16 goals for the season, fantastic effort.
