Super Jack Returns With The Winner!

Today’s closely-contested match was a great watch. Two teams very evenly matched and well-mannered, it’s a shame there had to be a losing team but fortunately the rub of the green was with the Reds today!

Hampton started brightly and looked very organised all over the pitch, we worked a few good chances and could consider ourselves unlucky not to go in at half time with a goal or two.

I can think of a couple of nice moves where the ball ended up at Harry’s or Rushy’s feet, only for some good defending and goalkeeping from the Leafield keeper to keep the score at 0-0.

Half-time sweets had the lads buzzing, and it was too late when Kielan reminded me that we didn’t do our pre-game hands-in “REDS” war-cry before the second half started.. he rightly blamed that on us not being in the lead so far… superstition then had me worried ??

The second half was pretty much the same as the first, both goalkeepers having a great day and looking very assured. This had 0-0 all over it.

Leafield could have nicked it, when there was a mix-up between Harrison and JP, allowing their striker in on goal 1v1, but Harrison stood tall and kept them out again.

The game was not over, there was still time for late drama, and up-stepped Jacko on his return to action. Smart thinking from Rushy who played a short corner to jack, who unleashed a rather tame effort across the goal, but it caught everyone out and rolled into the far corner. What a nice moment, with the lads all celebrating together, welcome back after 12 weeks out, deserved that.

A 1-0 win gives us 10 points from 15 in the league, a very healthy return and one the lads can be proud of.

Some super performances all over the pitch today, with EVERYONE playing a part in this victory, but there could only be one man of the match, who made the difference and got the goal, so well done Jack!
