Haddington lost out in a hard fought 5 goal thriller against Armadale at Millfield today. Although we lost the game today it still meant that by virtue of better head to head against Armadale we are crowned Div 3A champions.
Armadale started the game well and were the most dominant team in the first half which was reflected in their 2 goal lead at half time. The disappointing aspect being that their goals came from two defensive mistakes.
With 3 substitutes at half time the Colts looked an improved team in the second half. Armadale were still dangerous on the counter attack and against the run of play scored a third goal. Despite being 3-0 down the Haddington boys showed real resilience to score two late goals. The first was through Brodie’s deft finish from a Drew free kick. Then within the space of a minute Cameron J grabbed our second. This set us up for a frantic last few minutes but Armadale held on to take the win.
Final score line of 2-3. Disappointed we weren’t able to finish with a win or draw today, but our 2nd goal today meant that we are the league champions. (We do have one league game outstanding but this will now not be played.)
I would like to give the boys huge congratulations with the cup win last week and the league today for a very worthy double.
