Match Report
Match Day six saw Westy Gap FC pitted against the mighty Gringos, but the notorious no shows were at it again so Premiership side Hanging Hams stepped in, in their place.
Meatrovic and Leebo we're late drop outs but there was a return to the team for the exiled Tedarella.
Gringos were on top in the early exchanges, soon taking the lead through the in form Wagwaan. De Jong playing the kick in infield from the right hand side to Wagwaan, who must of smelt of shit or something because not a single Hams player came within 20 yards of him, before unleashing the finish into the bottom lefthand corner. With Legs taking a stint in goal it was Roberto Carlos and De Jong who was tasked with keeping Hams at bay.
Gringos were forcing the issue and sure enough the second goal came. After some outrageous skills twisting and turning before winning a corner, JT whipped the corner in to the stride of Wagwaan to volley home his second. Hams did get some joy of their own towards the end of the first half. After managing to squirm there way through to the edge of the Gringos box the Hams striker was able to toe poke a finish past the frustrated Legs in goal. Half Time 2-1.
Half time saw Legs take his usual place in the heart of defence with Roberto Carlos taking another stint in goal. It didn't take long for Legs to get on the score sheet, the combative De Jong winning the ball back for the umpteenth time, played it to Legs to smash home for 3-1. Xavi had managed to stay on the pitch for longer than two minutes, thanks to some hard cardio graft in the gym, and managed to grab another assist. Laying the ball off to Wagwaan to fire in of the post for his second hatty in two weeks. Can Houdini pull another Hat trick next week?. Gringos were running riot and soon had their fifth, Tedabayor layed it on a plate for Legs to bang his second. Hanging Hams did managed to grab a consolation, a long ball over the top and the Ham striker smashed it past Carlos who was not happy, I repeat he was not happy. Immediately handing JT the gloves for a turn in goal. Tedabayor was looking like he could do with some WD40. Rusty from a five weeks without kicking a ball. After a host of missed chances he did manage to get on the score sheet. Legs playing it wide for Tedabayor to cut in and get that taste of a goal again. De Jong continued to be a terrier snapping at the heels and almost snapping some heels. Legs then went on an infamous spaghetti run. But this was no ordinary spaghetti Run. Oh No. This was the creme De le creme of spaghetti Runs. A Spaghetti Bolognese Run. Sending out more Hotdogs than a man at a family BBQ. It was a thing of beauty but a mighty shame he couldn't cap it off with the finish it deserved.
Man of the Match was Nigel De Jong who fought like a Spartan and didn't give the Hams a moment's brake. Final score 6-2. Up the Gringos!.
