A very frustrating result against the bottom of the table team.
The boys started well but soon got into a wrestling match with Moordown and our principles go out the window. We are not the biggest of teams and really struggled against the physicality of the Moordown players today. That being said we did have spells of good football without creating too many chances.
Moordown gave everything today and grew into the game. The only way they were going to score is by us giving silly free kicks away. We gave away far too many and only thanks to the post they did not score.
The other end we were started to create chances. Will going over in the box allowed us to get a penalty. The keeper made a good save diving to his left to keep the ball out and the Moordown players celebrated. We had a ball flash across the box when only a touch was needed and a few last ditch blocks and scrambles kept the ball out. The final corner we pushed everyone up but we're then lucky the final whistle went as we had no cover at the back.
The boys were disappointed but they have to learn that playing nice football doesn't always win you games. Rolling your sleeves up and fighting for your teammates when things aren't going for you is just as important.
