Match Report - HIGHCLIFFE HAWKS YOUTH U14 - 10 Sep 2023

Something the boys have not been used too is losing games over the years but that is our second defeat in 2 league games and our 3rd defeat in 4 games.

We started well against Highcliffe who were joint league winners last year. Passing the ball wide Emilio cut in and was taken out for a penalty that Noah despatched well early on. Against Highcliffe you need control of the ball and have to stop their long balls. Unfortunately we didn't do either and Highcliffe took advantage twice in quick succession and we found ourselves behind. This included 3 of our boys been taken off. Aaron with a head injury so wasnt allowed to come back on. Emilio with a suspected broken foot and a trip to A@E which luckily is just soft tissue damage and Nayan who was struggling to breath. Highcliffe were always dangerous and we struggled with the physical side all across the pitch.

To go in at half time at 2-1 we felt we were still in the game.

Second half we controlled the ball better and had a goal dissalowed for offside when our player didn't need to touch it as it was going in. That would of made it 2-2 and would of changed the game. We then let 2 goals again in when failing to cope with the long ball and were chasing the game.

Last 10 mins was the best we played all game but ultimately came up short.

Boys will pick themselves up and we will try again next week.
