Match Report - STEINS THISTLE - 28 Nov 2020

We took to the field today missing 5 from the squad through injury and soon found ourselves behind on 6 minutes after a defensive mistake.  We stuttered our way through the half and after a corner had been swung in by Aiden L, big Aiden D was picked out in the box by Jude to have us back on level terms on the half hour. Not for long though as 5 minutes later Steins scored again after yet more poor play at the back.

A triple change was made at the break and the boys started to settle in the second half. With the play all in the Steins half we won another corner, this time taken by Robbo.  A scramble followed in the box before a Steins defender misscontroled the ball and played it straight to Jaden who hammered home from 3 yards. With the game level Rowan was called upon late in the half and saved at the strikers feet.  They say games swing on moments like that and it sure did for Grahamston as moments later and with a minute on the clock Euan showed calmness and picked out Robbo for his first goal of the season as he slotted in off the far post.  Grahamston were finally ahead.  Moments later and into injury time it was fitting that in the week Diego Maradona died that our very own number 10 had the final say with a great low shot from the edge of the box and past the keeper.  A tough battle today and a big 3 points as Grahamston go top of the league for the first time this season.
