Away league match

Coaches on time this week for another game away v Withdean. This time against White.

Always a tough opponent for us in 1 game per season and a walkover in the other.

We smashed them when we played them first game of the season so I knew this would be a tough fixture.

We warmed up well, although we were rushed a little by the ref but that was no excuse for the slow start we got off to.

Without going in to detail on every step of the game, there are some things that have to be accepted in football:

1. Mistakes happen

2. You cannot do everything on your own

3. Know your team mates

4. The ref gets it wrong sometimes

5. Follow the coach’s instructions

6. Ignore any guidance from the sidelines unless it’s from the coach’s

7. To score you have to shoot

We were 3-0 down at half time and we struggled to show any form of character! We went 11 or 12 games where we wiped the floor with teams but when we come up against some adversity, the players turn on each other, forget the basics and ignore the guidance.

I cannot accept players telling their team mates that they are shit from 40 yards away - you’ll get subbed

I cannot accept players neglecting the instructions we give them - you’ll get subbed

I cannot accept players repeating the same move/trick/skill when you have better options if you pass the ball - you’ll get subbed

Some real highlights tho:

1. After a couple of first half mistakes Harvey made 2 top class saves

2. Jack Holland really played well and put every drop of effort in until the end - Man of the Match performance

3. Owen / Tyler / Oliver B / Aiden worked tirelessly without 1 negative moan

4. Rio’s delivery for the deflected goal was different class

5. Liam bagged his first goal

6. Owen got a full game under his belt

7. Connor came to support

8. Oscar player higher up the pitch

Always positives to take from every game and Kaysha and I will always focus on that.

We pushed on when we went 4-0 down but it can’t take that for us to kick in to gear. I’m sure we will put it right against Southwick next week.
