vs Marle Place Wanderers Youth U15
Home cup match
A merged team of Youth and Hawks came up against a decent opponent in Marle Place Wanderers.
Our games with them have always been close but we are yet to take a point off them.
This is a chance and one we have to work hard to get the benefits.
A great warm up, a good buzz around the place but still missing Aidan, Kian, Jack H, Dean and Oscar who were all running late.
After being let down at short notice by AJ, who didn’t want to play, the lateness from all of the others is not what we needed. But these things happen and we dealt with it.
Jack H stepped up as skipper and slotted in at CB without any arguement!
The warm up was great, the team were pumped up and ready to fro from the first whistle.
We played very well from the start and dominated all over the pitch. It was great to get an early goal that was a classy dribble and finish from Rio in the first 15 mins. Mass celebrations ensued but I think this distracted us and we promptly found ourselves 3-1 down to goals that were easily prevented.
We still played well in the first half and we used 4 of our subs well, keeping Aidan for the 2nd half.
We had a good team talk at HT and although Antos wasn’t willing to play at left back, Hasnat stepped in and had a superb half of football. With Oscar, Aidan and Ollie making up the rest of the back 4 and shifting Jack into CDM and pushing Tyler up into CAM.
Connor and Tyler were superb and, as is becoming a regular occurrence, Tyler ran the show! Connor and Owen really looked good higher up the pitch and opened them up time and time again.
Owen bagged our 2nd goal after a quick reaction in the box and Connor pulled us back level shortly before the end of the game.
Our Adrenalin levels were high and going straight in to penalties we had 6 players offering to take one.
Calum saved their 2nd penalty and we scored our first 3. Rio was unfortunate to miss his and then we went through every player until the keeper had to take one and Calum hit a soft penalty that the keeper saved to send them through.
We drew the regular game 3-3, lost on penalties but showed a great attitude throughout.
Well done lads and keep pushing through when the league games come back around ????
