We welcomed Horsham Tigers to us from Horsham League Div 4 and Rudi and his squad seemed like a really likeable and friendly bunch.
Finches is slowly becoming a fortress and we showed this early on by getting in a solid warm up, lots of effort in getting ourselves up for the game and also this reflected in how we started the game.
A new approach of subs due to Kaysha not being available and Dan having to referee, we predetermined the changes to bring 5 on after 30 mins and then back on after another 20 mins.
This worked well as allowed us to focus on our role and game plan. Quickly into stride we continued to apply pressure on their fullbacks with Ben and Rio working tirelessly to brak them down. Well supported the midfield trio it gave us an attacking threat on every break.
Our corners were also well delivered and their keeper dealt with these really well. We got the break through with Jack Holland applying the finishing touch (can't remember the assist).
We let them back in to the game and they had a couple of chances to score before levelling.
Personally, I don't think we were at our best but we still controlled the game enough to never really look under pressure.
Austin picked up the ball in our own half and casually sauntered up the pitch on a mazy run only to put a delightful ball into the box for Connor to get on the end of, trick the keeper and slip it under him to nick the winner.
We looked good lads and am looking forward to working through pre-season to add to what we have started to build.
