vs Furngate Youth U15
Away league match
We came into this game against a much improved Youth side that have secured 2 wins in a row (their first of the season).
Both Ben and Oscar withdrew from the game at short notice which left us light in key positions and Aidan took on the role of Captain, Antos was moved back to CB, Tommy at LW and Connor & Owen started at CAM........ This is just to show how much rearranging is needed when players drop out late in the day.
Our warm up started slow but did get to the levels that were needed to start the game brightly.
Kian was causing a problem to the Youth defenders with his pace and willingness to run and hit the ball with pace.
Also, we looked comfortable on the ball at the back and through midfield.
The game was as expected, they fought hard and we had to battle to keep it at 1-1 coming in at half time.
We played superior football or made ridiculous mistakes during the second half, not a lot in between.
And the game was a lot closer in scoreline than it needed to be!!! 4-3 and with another 3 mins played we could have drawn or even lost the game.
Some key points to bring up:
> The long range 1-2's that we played, especially down the right, were superb
> Aidan making a huge challenge on Dean late in the 2nd half was key to our mindset change
> Tyler on the ball was immense but the running off the ball and recovery work was elite level
> Antos and Jack C need to get head up and look to release the ball earlier
> Harvey needs to keep concentrating on the basics in game and not dropping to the floor and stud roll passes
We are back where we belong at the top of the league but we will need to get levels up to stay there
