Home league match

A game that saw us back from 2 weeks off and hoping for a performance like we put in against Telscombe!

The warm up was OK and once we had Tyler, Jack H and Oliver L arriving we started get a bit more in the zone!

At least I managed to secure a ref this week as Kaysha was out of commission due to the positive COVID-19 tests she has had and Paul P kindly ran the line.

With the tea and coffees made to warm us up on the sidelines we got ourselves underway. A bit slow and in all honestly - complacent, in my opinion! We patronised what we thought would be an easy team to beat and they went 1-0 up and I can’t say it wasn’t deserved. At no point was I panicking but I could see the nervousness in a few faces on the pitch!

We eased ourselves slowly into the game and all of a sudden got up to the levels that have seen us unbeaten at the top of the league! 3 goals in quick succession saw us come in at half time 3-1 to the good!!

We started so brightly in the second half and Ben chipped the keeper after fine work down the right by Ollie H and Kian.

Ollie H and Kian combined again down the right but this time, Kian looks up and hits the ball with the outside of his right foot and leaves the keeper rooted to the spot as it nestled in the opposite top corner… another unreal goal!!

But Connor, returning after a few weeks out with injury, reacted to a knockdown from Kian and fired the ball into the back of the net, nearly ripping the pegs out! Another goal worthy of goal of the season…

We again switched off and conceded 2 more goals but the game was already done.

Happy with the 3 points but still some improvement areas that we can work on.

Connor and Aidan returned after a spell out

Hoping Tyler’s knock doesn’t get any worse and also hope to have Jack C and Oscar in contention for the upcoming game v Wakehams Green!

Before we look at that game, just enjoy the result from today lads. Well done
