Home cup match

FROLESWORTH United reached the last 16 of the FA Sunday Cup for the first time in their eight-year history following a hard-fought 2-1 win over Charnwood Sunday League Premier Division leaders Quorn Royals 2008 at Hall Park.

The Rabbits got off to a flyer against their Leicestershire neighbours as Callum Wills put the hosts in front inside 10 minutes, pouncing on a loose ball to slam home his ninth goal of the season.

Wills came close to doubling his tally and United's lead soon after when his header hit the top of the crossbar, but the visitors hauled themselves level just three minutes after the restart when Mason Holwell converted from close range after the hosts failed to clear.

But Callum Riley struck the decisive blow in the 68th minute when he converted Barnes Gladman's low cross at the front post to seal United's passage into Round Four.

Jordan Halford's side will now travel to the Armadillo Stadium in Arlesey to face two-time winners St Josephs from the North Home Counties Sunday Football League on Sunday, 17th January for a place in the Quarter-Final.
