Home league match

Fossoway suffered the mother of hangovers from last week's 93rd minute equaliser conceded to AM Soccer with an abject and disastrous performance and result against Auchtermuchty at The Myre.

It just didn't appear to be our way at all, with stray passes in constant supply and the ball frequently falling to a visitor's foot which gave Muchty their first win of the season. As stated in the preview, goals weren't really a problem and they added a further 5 to make it 16 goals from their opening 6 games. At the other end, Muchty were never troubled and their keeper was probably just missing sunglasses and a deckchair to go with his bright neon pink kit.

It started to go wrong in just the 6th minute when Boylan opened the scoring before limping off injured four minutes later. In the 12th minute, Jamie Forrester should have scored with a good move into the box but his shot cannoned off the post when he should have done better.

The game was an opposite of the AM game with chances more at a premium, but Muchty were doing a good job of scoring whatever fell their way. That lead was increased on 27 minutes with a diving header at the far post by M Reilly after a deep left wing cross. Just two minutes later it was already looking game over with some suicidal defending and a failure to clear the danger gifting the Muchty substitute with the easiest of chances to tap home for 3-0.

Things took a further turn for the worse in the 41st minute when Cruikshank rose highest at the far post corner and his header deflected off the back off a defender as it went into the net.

The Management Team read the riot act at half time and made two changes, which became three just 8 minutes into the second half as Ciaran Reilly limped off injured after coming off worse in his own challenge.

Forrester went close in the 55th minute with a looping effort that was headed off the line for a corner. The resultant corner fell to Payne at the edge of the area but his effort was blocked.

In the 74th minute another Muchty sub Hastie swept home from close range with his first touch of the game to end the scoring.

It was an extremely disappointing and painful performance for Fossoway with only Payne coming out with any form of credibility - albeit a very small consolation as I am sure the player will admit himself.

Too many players did not turn up today or want to perform, combined with one of those days where every pass seem to stray away from their target.

A serious wake up lesson, hopefully, is what today was and it will show the player's strength of character to how they respond.
