Away league match

Fossoway headed to Duffus Park, Cupar looking to pick up their first 3 points of 2020.

In a largely cagey first half on the huge pitch, there were very few clear cut chances. The closest Fossoway came was a long range effort from Payne off the bar while AM hit the post at the other end. That was until 2 minutes before half time when a free kick from the right cleared everyone to the back post where the striker volleyed home for 1-0.

Second half Foss came out fighting and got back in the game when Sanaghan shot across the goal, his effort fell to the feet of Wilson who made no mistake rifling the ball into the bottom corner for 1-1.

Then came the moment that changed the game. Only minutes after equalising a long ball over the top of the Foss defence saw 2 AM players in acres of space, the referee played on and AM scored to make it 2-1. The Foss defence were clearly enraged with the decision and Crookston was sent off for swearing at the referee in the aftermath.

Down to 10 men it was going to be an uphill struggle and Foss went further behind 5 minutes later when a straight ball through the Foss defence found the AM striker through on goal, he beat Robertson to the ball and rounded the keeper before sliding the ball into the empty net. 3 became 4, 10 minutes later as a mis-hit cross from the AM left sailed into the net.

Foss continued to battle and Forrester pulled a goal back with 9 minutes left. A great individual run beating defenders and the keeper before rifling home from the angle for 4-2. There was still time for a couple of half chances for Foss in the last few minutes.

A game Foss did well to get back into before the controversial 2nd which changed the game. Foss showed battling qualities in the second half which is encouraging as the have some very important games coming up in the League and next week's Fife Cup game at Leven United.
