Frow were out on the pitch early doors, sporting new training kit from sponsors Tommy Flynns. Days of turning up with 20 minutes to go in jackets as big as tents seemed long gone. It didn't stop George Holah splitting his within 5 minutes though. Porky xxxx...
Big Ron had decided to unleash the old frow legend that is the 3-5-2 or 3-frow-2 as it were affectionately known in the glory days. Playing at home against a newly promoted side seemed to be the right occasion to go attacking and try to dominate the game in the middle. However, it would soon become apparent that the opposition were exploiting the flanks. So much so that Eggy had handballed it for the eleventh time, before duly being booked. The young man clearly needs training on how to chest it, so Northern Tom has written up a plan full of pectoral exercises for him.
Frow played some decent football and looked comfortable in possesion. But we lacked urgency and the killer instinct to take the lead in the first half. Ringmer were winning the first, second and third balls - and that proved costly. A Ringmer player then collided with his own keeper and 20 minutes later, the physio had finally worked out how to put a bandage on someone's head, whilst the rest of us freezed our bollocks off. Joking aside we wish the keeper well after a nasty blow to the head.
It had clearly been all part of the plan, as Ringmer then capatalised on our boys being static as f***. They took the lead through a header at the back post and shortly doubled it straight from a freekick. Benton then played an excellent through ball to Holah, but the ball sailed wide. 2-0 down at half time and it was pissing it down.
Strong words and a tactical shift at half time seemed to do the trick, and Frow immediately picked up the pace after the interval. After about 60 odd minutes, we had to rub our eyes as we thought we saw Michael Parr play football. Goldenballs had done a Ravel Morrison on us so it was great to see the young man back in the fold, looking composed in the middle.
Frow finally made a breakthrough when Ringmer nearly cut Ollie Monnery in half for the eighth time. Holah lined it up and hit a stunner into the top right hand corner. Frow were well in the ascendency, and even GBH from their centre half on man of the match Benton couldn't stop us. A Holah freekick was smashed in with with a buller header from our white Lukaku, Michael Gardner.
Frow pushed for a winner in the soaking conditions but it wasn't to be. We wouldn't have taken a point at the start but we certainly would at half time. Up the Frow.
