Home league match

It was a very wet and muddy pitch knowing mistakes were bound to happen today from both teams.

Sportsmans started slowly with Brookvale having a few good chances but efforts going wide of the goal.

But not long into the game Brookvale received a free kick on the edge of the box that was never going to be missed their midfielder who slotted it into the bottom corner 0-1 Brookvale.

Sportsmans then began to play better football after the goal with some good movement upfront from the front 3 of Ross, Greenway and Russell, all causing the defenders problems.

We should have went ahead but for a great double save by the Brookvale keeper denying Russell and Ross. Who both know they should have put it away.

Then shortly after a great through pass from Ryan Day set Adam Greenway through on the edge of the box who smashed it into the top corner with his left foot! Wonder goal!!! to make it 1-1.

Brookvale then went ahead not long before half time with a mistake at the back from Reiss OSullivan who slipped and fell over with the ball bouncing off him and their striker running through 1 on 1 and smashing it into the roof of the net. 1-2.

After half time the second half was all Sportsmans with domination all over the pitch. With manager Gary King coming on for Greenway, we created lots of chances but they were going a begging, but eventually we took one through Ross who was played through by Russell down the line for him to smash it past the keeper and make no mistake with this chance! 2-2.

A great few chances in a few minutes from Ross and Jay as both attempts were straight at the keeper and should have done better in to finish the game off.

With half an hour to go Sportsmans got the third and most crucial goal with a great pass by Ross who disguised it to Ryan who barge down their player off the ball and curled it past the keeper. 3-2!!!!

Brookvale had a few chances to equalise but a world class save and the post saving the keepers blushes in two attempts in the last few minutes.

A great run from the Brookvale winger who squared it to the striker and everyone must have thought he scored but somehow Jordan tipped it onto the bar. Remarkable save!

Bu the best a few minutes later a short pass back by Kingy resulted in a poor clearance from the keeper and with an empty net the Brookvale striker hit the post this time with the ball rolling into Jordans hands.

The game finished 3-2.
