Brilliant 4-0 Win!

Challenge Cup first round.... in the early stages of the game Castle Vale were the better team creating 3 very good chances which if they took it could have been a completely different game. But once Sportsmans finally started getting into gear it was clear it was inevitable that we were going to score a few and cruise to victory.

A few half chances in the first half for Aaron with 1 being cleared off the line.

At half time manager Kingy and assistant Kev made 2 changes that certainly impacted the game. Brett & Greenway on for Matty & Ross.

Instantly Sportsman were stringing passes together and mixing up the play which was too much to handle for Castle Vale.

The first goal was very unfortunate for CVO as it was a clear goal kick, well that’s how it seemed but a pin point corner from Aaron and Russell didn’t need to move to head it home.

The second followed a few minutes after with some great play down the right with brothers Ryan and Russell who played a great cross to the back post where full back Ben came charging into to dive and head the hall towards the goal, with the CVO keeper parrying the Bali to the net.

Sportsman continued to dominate and it really should have been more but for some bad misses.

Our third goal came from some great play by Ryan on the right beating 3 players to square the ball too a Carl who’s shot was miss kicked and blocked and fell to Nashy who had an empty net.

Dom made 2 brilliant saves near the end of the match with 1 a contender for save of the season tipping the ball over the bar with a powerful header everyone thought was in put pulled a wonderful save off to keep his clean sheet.

The last goal fell to Man Of The Match - Aaron Ashford, a ball flicked onto him by Greenway where Aaron volleyed the ball into the bottom corner to finish the game off.

Great 4-0 victory and hopefully a turn in the right direction!
