vs Hindsford U13s Hawks
Away friendly match
This was our first 11 a side game which was going to be a challenge for the lads as it was against Hindsford last year’s league winners. We had spent a bit of time with the lads in training working on formations and had decided to play 3 at the back for our first game.
It was a really hot day and the boys were told to stay calm and let the ball do the work. Hindsford started well and were working down our left side where Kieran was defending amazingly well and single handily at times keeping out Hindsford. Our defence coped well in defence and attack with Harry and Joseph helping Kieran out as the half progressed.
Joe Coyle and Sonny were playing great in the middle of the park with Joe driving forward. Both Max and Josh kept the width which was causing Hindsford many problems. Luke was working the line well and both Lukas and Ben were really working hard and with Ethan’s communication and calm play slowing the game down when needed we went in at half time 0-0.
We had a laugh at halftime with me telling a couple of bad jokes and went out to the second half with smiles on our faces the total opposite to Hindsford. After only a couple of minutes of the second half a good tackle by Jacob Morris who had been brought on in central midfield was then passed to Will whose great skills and strength enabled him to play a lovely threw ball to Luke who slotted a lovely finish across the keeper into the bottom corner.
We were on top but Hindsford continued to create chances and equalised a few minutes later. After about 5 minutes of Hindsford pressure we managed to get hold of the ball again with magnificent work from Will who passed to Josh who battled his way passed the defender to poke the ball passed the keeper and with Joe Coyle following up it was just Joes goal.
We were totally on top and Hindsford started to argue with each other but we quickly went 3-1 up when Joe Carey made a crunching tackle to then play the ball to Luke who passed to Will who hit a lovely curling shot from way outside the area right into the top corner. Follow the pile on celebrations from the lads ??
Hindsford battled and we found it hard to get out of defence but Ethan played his part and made a few really confident saves and slowed the game down on many occasions helping his team mates out. With only a minute remaining Sonny chased the ball into our defensive corner of the pitch and played a long ball down the left wing to Lukas who turned a passed a great ball to Luke who beat two defenders and slotted the ball passed the keeper with the final kick of the game to secure a fantastic result. Well-done boys.
