Man of the Match: Joseph Carey
Today’s game was a real test for the lads following last weeks poor performance. The lads had worked well in training and we started the game well creating lots of chances, unfortunately we went 0-1 down from a long shot.
We equalised early following a great tackle from Max who was having a great match and passed to Harry Edwards who shot across the keeper. Unfortunately, we then let three goals in and didn’t put our chances away and went into halftime 1-4. Jake had played well on his 1st match back and Will was tenacious as ever.
We spoke to the lads about us still being in the game and that if we carried on with the same effort and desire and put our chances away we would still have a chance. They lads started the second half great with Lukas playing brilliant lots of energy, Joseph was defending brilliantly and also bringing the ball out of defence with lots of skills. Our 2nd goal came when Nathan made a great tackle releasing the ball to Lukas who’s lovely ball was played to Luke drilling a shot into the corner.
3-4 came following another Nathan tackle playing the ball to Harry Edwards who passed it to Luke who shot early and thought the keeper had held the ball but it spilled out and Lukas had followed in the shot .
Our equaliser came soon after and it was created my Max with a brilliant pass to Harry Edwards who then hit a long range left footed shot high over the keepers head into the roof of the net. We were well on top and Bolton weren’t really creating anything.
Ethan had made a couple of really important saves low to the corners and brave one on ones. We then went 5-4 ahead from a corner with the ball dropping to Max who blasted a volley into the net.
There was still 20 minutes left and although Bolton had a few chances we defended really well and held on for a well deserved victory. Lots of character today from the boys, Really well done
