Away tournament match
In a closely contested tournament match at the Poolfoot Training Complex in Thornton on 4th May 2025, Euxton Villa U15 Black faced off against Strensall Tigers U15, ultimately succumbing to a 1-0 defeat. The match kicked off at 11:15 am, and despite a spirited performance, Villa were unable to find the back of the net.
Euxton Villa lined up in a traditional 4-4-2 formation, designed to provide a solid defensive base while allowing for width in attack. Adam Tucker took his place in goal, shielded by a back four comprising Alex Howarth on the right, Jamie Catterall on the left, with Louis Grant and Harley Ashton forming the central partnership. In midfield, Jack Shirley operated on the right, with Zak Whalley and Finlay Mann in central roles, while Junior Cummins provided width on the left. Up front, William Murray and Lucas Harvey were tasked with leading the line as forwards. The substitutes for the match were Roman Taylor and Ethan Bingham.
The match began with an early setback for Euxton Villa, as Strensall Tigers capitalised on a defensive mistake in the ninth minute, scoring with a right-footed shot that left Tucker with no chance. This early goal set the tone for a challenging encounter, forcing Villa to chase the game from the outset.
Just a minute later, Lucas Harvey attempted to respond for Villa, but his effort sailed high over the bar, reflecting the urgency with which the team sought to equalise. As the first half progressed, Villa struggled to create clear-cut chances, and the half-time whistle blew with the scoreline reading 1-0 in favour of Strensall.
Following the break, Villa made tactical substitutions in the 21st minute, bringing on Roman Taylor for Jack Shirley and Ethan Bingham for Zak Whalley. These changes aimed to inject fresh energy into the midfield and attack, as Villa sought to regain control of the match.
Ethan Bingham quickly made his presence felt, attempting a shot in the 24th minute, but it failed to trouble the Strensall goalkeeper. Shortly after, Junior Cummins had a chance to level the score, but his effort was saved, highlighting the frustration Villa faced in their quest for an equaliser.
Despite their best efforts, Euxton Villa U15 Black could not find the breakthrough they desperately needed, and the match concluded with Strensall Tigers securing a narrow victory. The defeat was a tough pill to swallow for Villa, who showed resilience and determination throughout the match but ultimately fell short in their pursuit of a goal.
