Strong Second Half Performance Leads To Cup Tie Victory

There was a cup tie feel to the game on another glorious Saturday afternoon at Madills.

It took everyone by surprise, when a middle-aged Scottish man stepped onto madills 2 offering his services to referee the game. A welcome surprise for all.

It was another fast start by the Titans, racing into an early lead as Joaquin struck a smart finish into the roof of the net.

The oppositions midfield was causing problems and they took their opportunity from distance with a left footed thunderbolt into the corner of the goal. The first half ended all square with both sides hitting the woodwork in the closing stages.

The Titans were vary of the threat carried by Kebabs midfield trio. As such, a slight reshuffle focused on shutting down their space and putting pressure on their backline. This yielded immediate results with Adi taking advantage of their keepers fumble by playing the ball towards the goal and Jared following up with his thigh for the finish.

The third followed shortly after with MOTM Alvaro intercepting a pass and driving into the midfield, he spots Adi’s run to the back post and drops a Beckham-esque cross on Adi’s head who nods into the corner extending the titans lead.

The game then turned into a long ball battle with the Titans controlling majority of the tempo. The defence seemed comfortable with everything the opposition was throwing at them until the last minute when a lack of concentration gifted their attacker a consolation goal (for which Jed earned DOTD).

A sigh of relief was breathed by all when the referee blew the final whistle shortly after the re-centre.

The titans showcased their squad depth with continuous rotation of the front line and key contributions from Adi and Jared off the bench. The Titans now look to their next cup tie in a few weeks time.
