Away league match

A tough away trip on Friday night against a quality premier opponent. We set up in a low block inside our own half, allowing the opens possession inside their own half

This low block and our counter attacking football frustrated the opponent early in the first half and resulted in Quin putting Phil through who’s effort

Was well saved by the Quay Celtic keeper.

The opponents pressed us from the first minute and it due to us holding onto the ball too long we conceded the first goal of the game; we were 2-0 down on the half time whistle when we failed to clear our lines, this changed my half time team talk.

Unfortunately their goal came right on the stroke of half time, so our mentality changed slightly on the second half.

We then conceded goals 3 amd 4 within 7 mins of the restart but the lads showed immense character to dig in and fight for one another, and managed to pull a goal back by some great play on the edge of our own box by Nathan and Pecks, peck with a precise 20 yard left footed pass into Quin, Quin released Phil who left 2 Quay defenders on their arses and rounded the last defender to make it 4-1, unfortunately after that our attacks were few and far between, a nice run by Coyler was found by Sean O Shea pass and coyle pulled a great save from the Quay Celtic keeper,

Soon after that a Lively Chris Browne tried an audacious lob from just inside the opponents half but their keeper just managed to save it.

The night ended in a 6-1 defeat to premier opposition, there is loads to learn from managers and players alike about how the opponents go about things in and out of possession

All in all I’m very proud of these players
