EKFC Gold v Westerton

EKFC Gold produced a ruthless attacking display to run out emphatic winners against Westerton in a dominant performance packed with goals, intensity, and moments of real quality.

The hosts opened the scoring after 13 minutes when Matty Brown fired a dangerous ball into the box, forcing the Westerton centre-back into an unfortunate own goal under pressure from a corner.

EKFC doubled their advantage on 23 minutes through Leo Moscardini, who drove confidently into the area from the right before finishing high into the net with real composure.

The pressure continued and a third arrived on 28 minutes. A dangerous free kick from Mitchell Tennant crashed against the crossbar, with Joshua O’Brien reacting quickest to finish from close range.

Just five minutes later, Tennant got his reward. Receiving the ball on the turn 25 yards from goal, he unleashed a low driven effort into the corner to make it four.

On the stroke of half-time, EKFC struck again. A penetrative run from Steve Graham ended with a neat lay-off for Joshua O’Brien, who fired low into the net to send EKFC into the break with a commanding 5–0 lead.

EKFC made changes at the interval, with Jay Ralston replacing Steve Graham and Daniel Friel coming on for Mitchell Tennant.

The second half began exactly where the first ended. Within two minutes of the restart, Joshua O’Brien completed his hat-trick, pouncing on a loose ball after the goalkeeper parried a Matty Brown free kick.

O’Brien added his fourth of the match on 53 minutes, firing into the net following a frantic goalmouth scramble to cap an outstanding individual performance.

Further substitutions followed on 55 minutes, with Josh Gales replacing Joshua O’Brien, Callum Kerr coming on for Matthew Henderson, and Alfie Hall replacing Leo Moscardini.

At 61 minutes, Andy Hall was introduced for Kenneth Traynor, while Shay Christie entered the action in place of Matty Brown — a change that would have a huge impact.

Christie made his mark on 75 minutes with a magnificent individual effort, curling the ball into the far corner from 20 yards. Eight minutes later, he struck again, reacting quickest after his initial effort was saved to score at the second attempt.

The scoring was completed in the 90th minute when Christie grabbed his hat-trick, finishing from close range after the goalkeeper saved following a well-worked corner kick.

Westerton’s afternoon worsened when their number 5 was shown a red card for foul and abusive language. Earlier, their number 14 had been booked for a late tackle, while EKFC’s Mitchell Tennant also received a yellow card for a late challenge.

A dominant, high-quality performance from EKFC Gold, showcasing attacking depth, teamwork, and clinical finishing throughout.
