Match Report - ALTRINCHAM FC - 23 Nov 2023

A must win for Egerton in the Autumn Cup v Altrincham who have been improving week by week. Game was played on a frosty --2 morning with the pitch very boggy and slow.

Altrincham started brightly with their defence passing the ball around well and linking up with their midfield but did not offer a big threat up front. Egerton took the lead after Jenson split the centre back and full back with a lovely through ball that Wilf finished neatly after a one on one with the keeper.

Altrincham then equalised in the 26th minute after Egerton failed to clear from a corner and the ball fell kindly to their striker who scored a simple tap in.

2 minutes later Wilf played a lovely pass to Joe Hunt who rounded the keeper to put Egerton 2-1 in front and that's how the first half finished.

The second half Altrincham again started brightly but in the 40th minute Jenson found Jaxon with a sublime 30 yard through ball and he finished with a trademark right footed finish.

At 3-1 Egerton did not make it easy for themselves and defended deep to hold on to the lead. In the 50th minute Altrincham were awarded a harsh penalty as Kam was a penalised for a handball just inside the box. Thankfully Altrincham missed it but they sensed a come back and in the last second of the game after a mix up, the ball fell kindly to Altrincham who shot towards goal and it unfortunately bounced in off Arthur's chest making it 3-2 but the referee then blew for full time.

3-2 Egerton. Scrappy performance but still managed to get the win.
