The new season of the North Louth Winter
league started last Sunday with Edentubber Rovers travelling to
Ravensdale to play Faughart in what
turned out to be
an entertaining game. Faughart got off to the perfect start with a
goal from David Gray from a corner inside the first 5 minutes. It took Edentubber 15/20 minutes to shake off the start of
season rustiness but once this happened
they controlled most of the possession. A
one on one between Gareth Murphy and
Faugharts goalkeeper, seen Murphy scew
the ball wide, but he made up for this just
before half time with a lovely strike from outside the box which found the left hand
side of the goal. Half time ended 1-1 with Edentubber perhaps fearing they would be made regret their dominance not being converted to goals.
The second half started much like the first, Barry O Hara for Edentubber impressed in midfeild and controlled much of the game. Faughart had a couple of chances to take
the lead also and were always a threat on
the break. Edentubber finally got the lead ten minutes before the end when
substitute Lee Rice snatched on to a loose
ball in the box and poked it home into the bottom corner. They then pushed for a
third but were made pay in the 90th minute when Faughart caught them on the
counter attack and broke down the feild to
cross a ball into the box to Andy Falcus who steered it in from 5 yards. The game seemed to be going for a draw but much
like last season Niall Magennis had a different ideas for Edentubber. A ball over
