Home league match

The First Team put in an excellent team performance to start the 2018/19 league campaign with a win.

They got off to the perfect start finding themselves 2-0 up within the first few minutes.

Some superb play from Jamie Batchelor down the left wing saw him pull the ball back for Captain Si Hannaford to convert in the first minute.

The lively Rob Tapper got his first goal for the first team in the 5th minute when his shot/cross lobbed the Roselands keeper.

Roselands nearly pulled when back after 20 minutes but Richard Teague made a fine save to keep them out.

Allington continued to play some neat football with James Ivatts and Andy King at the heart of everything in midfield, some good work on the right hand side from Pete Grafton (who had a fine game at right wing back( and Andy Davis saw the ball switched over to the far side before it eventually found Si Hannaford in the penalty box and he kept his composure for a fine low finish into the corner.

3-0 at half-time.

Allington got off to a slow start in the second half and conceded an early penalty which the away side converted, this saw Roselands have their best spell of the game as Allington struggled to keep the ball.

2 goals in a 5 minute spell though saw Allington seal the game, the first the industrious Andy Davis firing home quickly followed by a rare goal from Jamie Batchelor (who yet again had an outstanding game).

To Roselands credit they never gave up and pulled one back after Allington were unable to clear the ball.

This was the only slight blemish as the back 3 of Josh Pascoe, Dan Hurrell and Sean Raymont defended well throughout supported by keeper Teague.

This goal inspired Allington to finish strongly and they added a 6th when Pascoe hit a glorious crossfield pass to Matt Shaw who's through ball expertly picked out the run of Davis who unselfishly squared the ball to Hannaford to complete a deserved hat-trick.

Allington nearly made it 7 when the returning Tom Harvey just fired wide after some great play from Shaw.

A good way to start the season, next week they are in Cup Action when they host Exmouth Town Reserves in the Devon Premier Cup - 2pm kick off, All Support Welcome.
