Home league match

Our 10th league match of the season seen us welcome bottom of the table Riverside Reds to South Road. Our usual home pitch was waterlogged so the match would be moved down the hill to South Road 1 where we had never played before.

We asked the team to be focused and concentrated from the first whistle, despite Riverside being bottom of the league they would be out to prove a point having never beaten us previously.

Team talk out the window after seven minutes though as we found ourselves 2-0 down! Uphill battle now and definitely could not afford to concede a third, next goal would be crucial to the game. The lads eventually woke up and Eze broke free down the right hand side before finishing clinically to give us a goal back. As we approached half time we were awarded a corner which was swung in and eventually finished off by Hamzah Ejaz to bring us back level and go in 2-2 at the break.

Half time and some changes would be made. We let the lads know that the next goal in this game would be very important and we should go out into the second half with the momentum and step up a couple of gears to take home the 3 points.

Lucus Syme and Maison King were brought in to central midfield and made an immediate impact. We were now controlling the centre of the pitch, winning duals and putting some passes together.

That all important goal would come in the 43rd minute when Jack Sutherland slotted home a composed finish into the bottom corner to give us the lead for the first time in the game. It was all Dryburgh now, constant pressure on our opponents, one way traffic. Another corner superbly crossed by Lucus met the head of skipper JJ Lamond who powerfully headed the ball home for our fourth.

Lucus Syme would cap off an absolutely outstanding second half by scoring our 5th with his excellent left foot. Well deserved goal.

Not for the first time this season we started slow, but this team always seem to find a way to dig in and get the result over the line.

Special mention again to Lucus and Maison who really did change the match with their midfield performance. They both worked really well together in the centre of the park.

Pitch today didn't help, very heavy, slippery and muddy.

Another three points on the board as we continue our impressive league campaign.

Well done lads.
