Home league match
Back into the league matches this morning as we welcome Forfar Blues to South Road 2 on a cold morning. Given the positions of both teams in the league we were expecting nothing less than a win today, although without taking anything for granted.
Rhys Wighton opened the scoring for us in the 5th minute to get us off to a cracking start when he finished well from the left hand side as the ball finished up in the bottom corner of the Forfar net. Forfar made a comeback though netting a 22nd minute equaliser to level the game. Jack Sutherland would put us back in front with his first goal for the club as he finished well from the left hand side of the Forfar 18 yard box. We were awarded a penalty shortly after, which ever reliable penalty kick taken Maison King dispatched perfectly to give us a two goal cushion.
3-1 up at Half time we would make 5 substitutions and ask the lads to continue with the momentum and put the game to bed early on in second half. Five minutes into the second half we were treated to a spectacular strike as Maison King added a 4th Dryburgh goal when he executed a tremendous scissor kick from an Abdullah corner, sending the ball high into the Forfar net - what a goal! Tremendous agility, technique and skill shown by Maison. The game seemed to be all but done by now but Forfar did claw a goal back, but not long after Lucus Syme saw a powerful strike find the net to make the score 5-2. Eze would add a 6th goal with a powerful finish to put the game beyond any doubt and seal a 6-2 win for Dryburgh and chalk another 3 points on the board.
All in all a dominant performance resulting in a convincing with for the Burgh - well done team!
