Home league match

We travelled to Charlotte Street Astro this morning for an early kick off against Dundee West Reds.

This would prove to be a difficult test against a very strong team who spent last season competing in Tier 1.

We did not get off to the best start as Maison King suffered from an injury early on and had to be replaced. Shortly after, Dundee West opened the scoring to make it 1-0 but the boys responded well and did not let this affect them too much. First half was mainly one way traffic and we were up against a high amount of pressure throughout the majority of this half, however we did break free a couple of times but could not capitalise on our efforts.

Half time 1-0 down, but still very much in the game, and as we all know in football - anything can happen!

Second half and to be honest, more of the same. Our opposition were moving the ball about impressively and were also a very fit and physical side. We kept at it though and, again, their defence was opened up on a couple of occasions but unfortunately it was not our day in front of goal.

Dundee West eventually made it 2-0 with around ten minutes to go to seal the win on a disappointing day for our lads.

Well done to the boys though, who battled hard and kept at it for the duration of the match. It was always going to be difficult against this side.

Special mention today to our ever reliable goalkeeper Layton Smith, who was absolutely outstanding once again. In all honesty the scoreline could have been a lot worse, had it not been for the big man's performance today.

Well done to all the boys. Over a year without defeat in competitive matches, which has now come to an end, but we go again next week!
