Away cup match

The team were on their travels today as we headed South to take on Bayside of Dalgety Bay in the first round of the Scottish Cup.

Given our disappointment last year of being knocked out of the Scottish Cup on penalties in the first round the team were eager to progress this year against a team we had no knowledge of.

First half we started quite well, although we were struggling slightly to find our flow and string the passes together. It became clear pretty early on that we would be dominant though and this was further confirmed as we opened the scoring through Coden Gorrie in the 8th minute.

Coden added a second for the team on the 33rd minute to round off an excellent first half from the striker. We would go in at half time 2-0 up, however we were not at our best. I asked the lads at half time to move up a gear second half and try and score a few more and to also get the ball on the ground and pass the ball around.

Second half much better, Eze was brought on at half time and the Bayside defence found him difficult to stop as he used his pace and power to terrorise their defence. He would go on to score in the 50th minute to maintain an excellent scoring record to the opening part of the season.

Brandon Wallace added a fourth for Dryburgh as he won the ball strongly in midfield, broke forward through the centre of the Bayside defence before rounding the keeper and leaving himself with a tap in.

Maison King, who had threatened the Bayside goal throughout the match would round off our scoring with an excellent finish. Excellent performance from Maison today, who has been in outstanding form lately.

Straightforward win for the team today, but great to get the win nonetheless. The Scottish Cup is a great tournament for the lads to be involved in, and we hope for another away day when we find out who our opponents will be in round 2.

Well done boys. Good team performance and another win to add to our excellent start to the 25/26 season
