Home league match
Our last midweek match before the spring seen us up against Arbroath YFC Blues at our home pitch South Road 2. We were looking to capitalise on our excellent unbeaten start to the season and look for our third win on the bounce against one of our rivals from last season.
It was a frantic start to the match and neither team seemed to put many passes together, however we eventually found our flow and opened the scoring through captain JJ Lamond who finished a well taken Lucus Syme corner.
Lucus Syme was at it yet again as he scored directly from another corner not long after our opener. Lucus left foot is proving to be a an excellent asset to our attacking play at the moment and we are looking dangerous from set pieces.
We were in the ascendency at this point but Arbroath broke down the pitch with a nice move, their striker was through on goal and caught the ball extremely well with his right foot, however was denied by an outstanding save from our ever reliable goalkeeper Layton Smith, who has had an outstanding start to the season.
Coden Gorrie made it 3-0 just before the break with a well taken goal. Excellent first half and I asked the lads to maintain this standard going into the second half.
Second half and more of the same, Maison King made it 4 when he finished an excellent team move before our powerhouse Striker Eze scored another 2 through relentless running and pressure on the Arbroath defence.
JJ Lamond was sent off in the closing minutes for a second yellow card offence, but even when down to ten men the team still looked like they were in full control.
An all round excellent performance. Usual solid display from the consistent defence and we were clinical up front today.
Absolutely delighted with this start to the season. The boys are full of confidence and all showing great attitudes at the moment. Well done boys. Let's keep going!!
