Dragons started off their league campaign against Avon Titans Reserves who they beat twice in the last campaign. Captain for today was Darren Wilsdon.
The game started off with Dragons much on the front foot but with wayward shooting and some good defending from Titans. Dragons best chance of the first 20 minutes came when a Max Danby corner met the head of Darren Wilsdon only for it to be cleared off the line. The best chance of the first 20 minutes for Titans came when from a corner a player wiggled through only for his shot to be blocked from 12 yards by Darren Wilsdon. Dragons broke the deadlock after 30 minutes when Scott Danby played the ball into Josh Barnett who controlled the ball into the air and with a swing of his left boot volleyed Dragons into the lead from 20 yards in the bottom right corner. Dragons could have had a second before half time but a good save from Titans keeper from a looping Josh Barnett shot kept it 1-0 going into half time.
Coming into the second half Dragons continued where they left off with the better chances coming their way. As the game progressed Titans pushed more forward in the pursuit of an equaliser but the Dragons defence and team stayed resolute. Dragons could have added to their tally in the second but a few good saves from Titans keeper kept the score to 1-0. The game ended 1-0 with Dragons not really being troubled all game against a deep defending Titans team.
A good overall team performance and a good start to the league campaign with Bidford Juniors up next away.
