We headed into our first pre season game against a tough Pershore Sunday team which finished 4th in last seasons division 1. The game was split in 3 x 30 minute half’s to help aid both teams fitness. With a depleted squad due to a number of players away we had bare 11 with the help of Lewis O’loughlin making 12.
The game started with Pershore much on the front foot for the first 30 minutes of the match but good organisation and effort from all players meant that we went into the second 30 minutes at 0-0.
The start of the second 30 minutes continued in the same vain with Pershore much in the from foot with them getting on the Scoresheet after about 40 minutes with a good strike just outside the box to the right hand corner. Shortly after roughly 5 minutes, a second goal came for Pershore from a short corner which picked out an unmarked man in the box. A third goal before the end of the half due to a defensive mix up means that we went into the last 30 minute half 3-0 down.
In the last 30 minutes the contest was a much equal affair with more shots and possession coming for the dragons. After about 75 minutes dragons scored their first goal of pre season with a good team goal being worked from the back, into midfield, out to an overlapping Max Danby who played through Marty Meddings to chip the goalkeeper from about 20 yards. The game petered out in the last 15 minutes with a few shots per team with one great save from Brian Stokes.
The game ended 3-1 to Pershore and proved to be a good result for dragons knowing the league the opposition play in and a somewhat make shift side. Great team effort by all.
Man of the match - Aiden Shelton after only just signing slotted into CB and had a great game against tough opposition.
