A tough match that stayed competitive throughout ultimately ended with a 2-0 loss. In spite of this there were many fine displays from individuals as as well as a strong team understanding and effort which kept a very good passing side at arms length for much of the game.
After the game the management team were hugely positive despite the result, when asked manager Hoad had the following to say, "The goals came from minor lapses which were few and far between, the first is a cheap free kick to give away, and then we take to long to organise ourselves, it's a good delivery and a great header, but at no point were we set and ready, and that's the real disappointment there. The second, we get caught overplaying at the back, lose possession and they breakaway to get the goal, but we'll take that on the chin, we're looking to play more this season, and on occasions we'll get it wrong, that's fine!"
The score could have been different, DHFC's play going forward showed some really quality at times and they could have a had a few themselves on another day.
Dickens also conceded a penalty late in to the second half but a fine saving diving to his right from Scott sore the scoreline remain at 2-0, when asked after the game Scott enthused, " I think the lads have put together a great performance today, the way we moved and played as a team was fantastic, we feel unlucky to have lost today", when pushed on the penalty save Scott had this to say "I just had a feeling he'd go that way, as he began his run up I was convinced. I was happy to get two hands on it, and was pleased to see it go away from the danger area".
DHFC will next be in action for their final game of pre-season away to Fieldhouse FC on Sunday, 26th August.
