Match Report by Jack Tyler.

Dickens Heath started the second half of the season with a home cup match vs FCB United, who currently lie within the top two of the same league as Heath, division 2.
The player/manager, James Hoad, opted for the 4-4-2 formation with a near enough full squad, with only Sam Tyler and Aidan Hearfield unavailable for selection.

Both teams looked bright from the beginning and had a share of the posession throughout the first 10 minutes, despite FCB United's centre forward having two clear cut chances in front of goal and blazing them over the bar from close range.
The first goal of the game, came after 18 minutes from Jack McEvoy, who picked up the ball in the middle of the park and tried his luck from long range seeing the FCB United keeper off his line slightly and got caught out making it 1-0 to Heath.

FCB United started to slowly come back in the game and had numerous chances to get on the scoresheet after the first goal of the game.
Unfortunately, due to a mis-throw of the ball at the back on 37 minutes from Ben Scott to Jack McEvoy, FCB United's number 7, was on hand to volley the ball home on the edge of the 18 yard box, to equalise the game at 1-1.

After the break, FCB United made 5 changes to put a near enough full 1st team out, who started the brighter.
Heath had to soak up a fair bit of pressure in the opening 10 minutes in the middle of the park and be resolute in their defensive work.
Against the run of play, some good passing football ended with Jack McEvoy fizzing a left foot, low cross on the edge of the 18 yard box with the ball going through a bundle of players making it difficult for the opposition keeper to see with the ball trickling in to the bottom corner to make it 2-1 to Heath after 55 minutes played.

Dickens Heath grew in to the game from there on and created several more good chances before Jack Cannon picked up a loose ball at the back and went on a little run beating 3 players before leashing a strike, with the opposition keeper beaten, which came smashing off the left hand post of the goal frame.

An all round good, fighting team performance to Heath's first game of 2017 to progress into the quarter-finals of the challenge cup.
