The League Cup saw us travel to Priory Park in St Neots, to take on Little Paxton. With 35 players signed on, we again, only managed to take 15.
With a fairly strong squad, we set up with a 4-3-3 formation that saw the defence of Lava, Plaz, Bandy and Jack, a midfield trio of Cain, Joe and Chris, and the attacking trio of Dean, Pogs and Mads.
Raptors kept the ball well during the first half and possesion was clearly favouring us, but like the past month, luck hasn't been on our side, and we failed to finish our chances.
A lack of concerntration then cost us, as Little Paxton inside our area, cut the ball back to an oncoming midfielder, who shot home into the far top right corner, which left keeper KP no chance of saving.
The referee, then had a huge decison to make, as Little Paxtons number 17 on a number of occasions, opted to make dangerous and late over the ball tackles on Raptors players. The ref bottled it, as the player should've walked, but was only showed a yellow.
With the half nearing, Raptors got the ball out to the left to George Rogers who cut back, and delivered a peach of a ball to the back post, where Captain Joe Santoriello met the ball with his head, and scored his first ever Raptor goal. 1-1.
Half time saw Dean replaced with Danny and Plaz replaced with Tommy.
Raptors, after such possesion in the first half, struggled to get going again. Little Paxton flip reversing the possesion into their favour, were awarded a corner, which wasn't cleared and a ball back into the area was flicked into net from a couple of yards out. 2-1 Paxton.
A couple more Raptor subs saw Geo and Lava give way, for Kendall and Alex.
Little Paxton kept attacking and a brilliant turn by their striker, saw him 1-1 with KP. The striker hitting home a sweet strike, which the fingertips of KP couldn't keep out. 3-1.
Raptors had the chance to get back into the game as 2 corners were put into a dangerpus position, and 2 goal mouth scrambles, couldn't see us take the advantage.
A shot from Paxton was then fumbled by KP, who on the follow up, got his hand to the ball, but the Paxton striker attempting to get the ball, bent KPs arm back. This saw KP replaced in goal by Plaz.
The final goal came as the striker, closing down the ball was given a helping hand by Plaz. As he put his foot through the ball to clear it, saw it smash the stiker and fly back over him and into the goal. 4-1.
Another week where commitment and attitudes were below par, has resulted in a run of 4 losses. This is not good enough and will be tolerated no longer. With Houghton as our next opponents, every player will be playing for their positions. We started this season so well and were working together, but have seen the performaces drop dramatically the past weeks.
Man of the match (not sure he was happy to recieve it after today) goes to Chris Patrickson. Working hard in the middle, cutting attacks out and putting himself everywhere to try to create chances.
