vs Eynesbury Rovers SFC
Home league match
Again, we struggled to get into the game in the first minutes, as we allowed Eynesbury time to pass around, and look like we didnt want it.
It wasnt long before the first goal went in. A nice ball through, found the striker 1-1 with KP, and him slotting the ball in to the back of the net.
Then the 2nd. Another ball through and another 1- battle, which saw the striker come off best. 2-0.
Raptors had the chance to get back into the game, as a penalty was given for a foul on Tommy, by the keeper.
Tommy stepped up to take it, and ended up balloning it over the bar ??
Half time
Our formation was changed to 4-4-2 for the 2nd half, but that didnt stop Eynesbury from enjoying themselves.
Goals 3-10 all coming in the 2nd half, gave Eynesbury a lead that no one was coming back from. Our consolation goal came from Jason Fleeting, who picked the ball up wide and drove into the area, and smashed it home.
Man of the match went to Shane Dennis, who in only his 2nd game for the club, put in a solid performance at the back. His old school/no nonsense defending is impressing management.
Another weekend where we failed to turn up and track back has cost us dearly. Even though we have a defence, we cant expect them to defend when they are outnumbered. Again this week, whilst defending, we had 5 sitting high up the pitch, leaving us severly out manned.
We need to start games more positive and with more fire in us than the opposition. Its the early stages that a team knows whether we want it or not. If we can start games with more tenacity than the opposition, then they will know they are in for a tough game.
We also need to make sure we can be heard. There were times today two people were going for the same ball, that could've ended horribly. Also, throughout the game, voices were very silent. Yes we have a captain, but its not just him who can be vocal. If players want to motivate others, then by all means do it. A single roar isn't heard. A group of roars will be heard, and feared!
We move on to next weekends final game before the Xmas break against Hawkins. Lets put in a performance and get the win, so we can go into Xmas with the streak of not winning broken. We have such a great squad and we just need to get the spark back to move forward.
