lions went into this one with morale high after a 3-3 with local rivals Rowsley 86 res. Right from the off lions dominated. liam Ashton overlaped Callum Musgrave to bring the first save from the Railway keeper on 11 mins. This was the firat of what proved to be a very busy afternoon for the Railway Keeper. It was on 19 mins that the breakthrough came with the eagle eyed Jordan Watts slotting in Jon Cooper, beating the offside trap to slot home his first of the afternoon. The first have was all very much of the same with efforts from Billy Lester, Jon Cooper and Jordan Watts all coming close to extending the lead. Captain Cooper scored his second of the afternoon on 38mins after a great solo effort by Right back Liam Ashton getting in once again behind a shakey Railway back four before cutting it back for Cooper to slot home from close range. On 43mins Winger Watts again played in the overlapping Ashton who released a top class shot desting for the top corner only to be matched by the Railway Keeper to keep the score at 2-0 at half time. early in the Second half Railway started well blazing a free kick over Lions Keeper Dan Insleys Crossbar. Minutes later another free Kick desting for the roof of the net was tipped over and delt with by keeper Insley. the lions defence stood strong and soaked up all the early pressure From Railway. Lions again Turned the pressure round Coopers shot just wide from a Dave boden long throw. moments later Watts picked the ball up from 36 yards out and sprinted past the Railway back four leaving them stood still only to be stopped by again the Railway keeper. Watts was just proving too much for the Railway defence and 12 minutes into the second half it was his shot that force a save from Railways keeper only to but the ball straight into the path of the onlooking Cooper to round up his first hat trick of the season. again lion dominated and more shots from Ashton, lester and Sam Hoskin could of made it double figures. lions won the midfield battle comfortable with the debutants Mikey Orwin and Nathen Comley doing themselve proud in the defensive midfield role. Vetrans Gaz Whitworth and Steve Stone also giving a footballing masterclass to the Railway youth. Railway finally got one back though number 11 Steve Winterbottom but it only proved to be a consultation and moment after he was booked for decent by ref Rob Neale just to add to a frustrating afternoon for the men from Buxton
