<p>A beautiful Remembrance Day ko and a poignant 2 minute silence marked the 11.02 ko between Darlaston Athletic and established Ashmore FC . For once we got into organisation mode pretty quickly and restricted the opposition to long balls down the channel . One such occasion almost caught us out but stand in keeper Toony pulled off a great save . On 18 minutes Ricky Owen sent in a lovely cross which Liam Poll nodded nicely home . We were by know well ahead in terms of possession but sometimes a tad wasteful with the final pass ...1-0 still at HT . Both sides looked a little short of ideas but Danes cross from the left somehow evaded the flailing keeper to put us 2 up . Ashmore were immediately thrown a lifeline when defender Tom Theobald hit a brace to draw level . However rather than grumble, we rolled up our sleeves and carried the challenge to them , Anton flicking on a throw in to Ben Wilson who despatched his 103rd in a Darlo shirt . Dane Hurley topped a much better second half showing to slide in a low centre for the Squirrel to continue his rich vein of form .The game looked over at 4-2 as we ran down the clock but plucky Ashmore hit back again, this time Steve Pugh reducing the arrears . In a close but fairly contested battle , we hung on for a deserved 3 points as each man gave all for his team mates .
