Wanting a unbeaten finish to the season the Dalton players set out their sights to hopefully pick up 3 points on the road. With arrived slightly late and things being rushed I felt slightly concerned however the spirits were high and everyone seemed focused on the task ahead of them. Usual messages before the game and we got underway. The game kicked of and Dalton saw a lot of the possession. Shifting the ball comfortably but not showing any real conviction in the final third. The players didn’t work hard enough out of possession and this offered a few half chances for the home side. Players became very distracted due to decisions made by the match official which then rocked the boat, Dalton stopped playing football and seemed to lose their way with the game until a long clearance from stand in goalkeeper Jonny While was flicked on into the space by Keith Holmes, Jordan Fisher with a very calm head took it away from the defender then around the goalkeeper to pass it into a empty net.
HT 0-1 and the players pretty happy to be in lead but still had a lot of work to do. They were told about getting organised out of possession and to stop being so wasteful in possession. We needed to make the right decision and look after the ball. Most importantly to stay off the referees back as it was effecting our game.
The second half kicked off and minutes in players again became involved with the decisions made by the match official. Losing focus of the game a soft free kick was rewarded for a foul on the edge of penalty area. The free kick nestled into the top corner levelling the game at 1-1. Control of the game became Daltons for lengthy periods. Comfortably playing out from the back and breaking lines into attack, just lacking someone to stick the ball in the net.
1-1 was the final score and probably a fair result on the day. A below par performance but another point gained on the road
3 Points - Kane Fitch
2 Points - Jordan Fisher
