In a thrilling cup encounter at Haslemere Rec on 18 January 2025, Crookham Rovers Rockets U9 showcased their attacking prowess, defeating Haslemere Town U09 Huskies with a resounding scoreline of 7-2. The match kicked off at 9:00 am and saw the Rockets dominate proceedings, securing their place in the next round of the competition.

The Rockets adopted a 2-3-1 formation, with Tenny Harman in goal, flanked by central defenders Cassius Pech and Jesse Nichols. The midfield trio consisted of Theo Little on the right, Freddie Wright in the centre, and Ella Webb on the left, while Cooper Whiteman led the line as the striker. This setup allowed for a solid defensive base while enabling fluid attacking transitions, relying on the midfielders to support Whiteman in the final third.

The substitutes for Crookham included Felix Withers, George Mcdowell, and Finley Taylor, who were poised to make an impact as the match progressed.

The Rockets wasted no time in asserting their dominance, with Ella Webb scoring her first goal for the club just one minute into the match, assisted by Freddie Wright. The early lead set the tone for the Rockets, who continued to press forward. However, a moment of respite for the Huskies came in the 12th minute when they equalised, capitalising on a defensive lapse.

Despite the setback, Crookham responded swiftly. Cooper Whiteman, who had been lively throughout, had an attempt saved shortly after, but he quickly found the back of the net twice in quick succession. His first goal came in the 16th minute, a solo effort set up by Theo Little, followed by another just a minute later, assisted by Freddie Wright.

As the first half progressed, the Rockets continued to dominate. Freddie Wright added to the scoreline with a well-placed shot from outside the area in the 18th minute. Shortly after, an unfortunate own goal from a Huskies defender further extended Crookham's lead, leaving the score at 5-1 before half-time.

The Huskies managed to find some momentum with a goal shortly after the break, bringing the score to 5-2 in the 27th minute. However, the Rockets were relentless. Freddie Wright scored again in the 47th minute, following a goalmouth scramble, assisted by Cooper Whiteman, pushing the lead to 6-2.

Tenny Harman, who had been solid in goal, capped off the scoring for Crookham with a goal of his own in the dying moments of the match, finishing inside the box after a great solo run to conclude the game at 7-2.

The match was officiated by Ashley Taylor, who maintained control throughout, allowing the game to flow while ensuring fair play. The Rockets' performance was a testament to their teamwork and skill, with Cassius Pech earning the Player of the Match accolade for his defensive contributions and overall impact on the game.
