Cowie Thistle 3 - 2 Tarves

In a game of few chances and not for the purists, Cowie progressed to the last 16 of the Scottish Cup despite going down to 10 men in the 2nd half.

Cowie took an early lead in the 9th minute when a corner from Duke was headed in by SALMOND.

The game was 100 miles an hour as neither team were playing any sort of football and it looked like Cowie would take a lead into half time until the 44th minute when a long ball wasn't dealt with by the defence, a sliced clearance landed at the Tarves strikers feet and he lobbed Stu for 1-1.

Cowie retook the lead in the 52nd minute when a good ball down the line by Badger found McDONALD in space and he ran through and finished past the keeper.

The lead only lasted 10 minutes though as another mistake, this time a missed defensive header allowed Tarves to equalise with the striker finishing well.

It got worse 2 minutes later when TJ was sent off for a late tackle, Cowie had to reshape and had a spell of holding on as Tarves looked to make the extra man count.

Cowie scored the winner though in the 75th minute as good work by Mutly out wide resulted in him squaring the ball for McDONALD to knock in.

Tarves launched everything forward trying to get an equaliser but good defending prevented any real chances and there was relief when the final whistle went.

1st half up there with the worst we've played this season but a good reaction in the 2nd half and after going down to 10 men means we're looking forward to the last 16 draw next week! Thanks to Murray Adie for being our mascot for this round.

Before the game there was an immaculately observed minutes silence as a mark of respect for Mark Campbell from Stonehaven Athletic, again our condolences and thoughts are with all Marks family and friends at this time.
