Cowie Thistle 4 - 0 Tarves

Cowie made it back to back league wins for the first time this season with a comfortable win over Tarves this afternoon.

With Tarves having beaten Rothie last week, Cowie knew they’d be in for a tough test and in the first 10 minutes Tarves had a couple of good chances to go 1-0 up but good defending and a superb Jarvie double save kept them out.

After those chances though it was all Cowie as the team got to grips with the game and began to dominate, opening the scoring in 15 minutes when a Smithy corner found BUCK at the back post who had a simple task of nodding in.

5 minutes later it was 2-0 when a long ball forward by Al Craig was missed by the defender and IRV ran through and beat the keeper at the near post.

Cowie had more chances to increase the lead before half time but good goalkeeping kept it at 2-0.

In bizarre circumstances at half time Cowie had to change from their red/white away kit into the gold 3rd kit due to colour blindness affecting a couple of the Tarves players....

Knowing the next goal would be important, Cowie put the game out of sight 2 minutes after half time when an Oldroyd through ball was collected by VALENTINE who rounded the keeper and finished into the empty net.

4-0 came in 60 minutes when a Cran corner was bundled home expertly from a yard by McCOMBIE

The rest of the game was played out with few chances for either side as Cowie limited Tarves to a few shots from distance. The highlight being the return of Cowie legend Neil Fowler, who has returned early from his travels abroad.

Overall another excellent performance following on from last week, always comfortable after the first 10 minutes and hopefully a sign things are back on track.
